Xamk Fiber Laboratory
The Fibre Laboratory of the South Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences in Savonlinna is specialised in phenomenon and pilot scale study, which is utilised in the development of high-technology solutions.
The projects implemented in the fibre laboratory support the competitiveness of companies, for example, by developing technology that saves energy and water and reduces carbon dioxide emissions. The fibre laboratory carries on process and biomaterials research and develops innovations especially for new uses of wood biomass.
As an innovation platform, the fibre laboratory offers testing and analysis services for the equipment and chemicals suppliers of the field and for the forest industry and gathers together expertise in the area through research projects. The services of the fibre laboratory also include water and slurry research. The operations also include a connection to the training of bioproduct technology engineers, which produces expertise for future bioprocesses.
The service is meant for enterprises and it is mainly produced in the operating environment of the Xamk fibre laboratory. In addition, the experts of the fibre laboratory and, where applicable, the mobile piloting and analysing equipment are available, for example, in factories.
