FrostBit Software Lab
The FrostBit software laboratory (previously pLab) was established already in 1999 as the first Finnish virtual reality software laboratory, at which time it was funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The key RDI focus of FrostBit is in training and entertainment games, simulation, extended reality, network and mobile data processing, and diverse information management.
The service of the FrostBit software laboratory is produced by the web & mobile and XR & game teams of the FrostBit laboratory, which consist of software engineers, 3D modellers, graphic designers, and experts in the media and communications. Services are often produced in cooperation utilising the expertise of stakeholders in other fields, for example, among research, development and innovation projects. Therefore, the services are mainly aimed at enterprises and organisations seeking RDI partnership, who want to test and develop new ideas and technologies. The prices of the services are determined according to the necessary entity and necessary expertise, of which price estimates are made in connection with enquiries or planning.
The personnel of FrostBit has diverse expertise: the laboratory has a solid RDI focus and technical expertise in XR & game technologies and in web & mobile systems, as well as in diverse information management. We direct and carry out cooperation in EU-funded projects, e.g. in forestry, mining industry, the built-up environment, travel, healthcare and traffic sectors, and we offer RDI services for local enterprises. We carry on close cooperation with the education sector and with a number of regional, national and international partners.
